Hi! I’m Megan
................
I believe life is too short not to pursue what truly fuels us—whether that’s building a successful business or strengthening the bond with our dogs. Our passions empower us to face challenges, embrace opportunities, and create the life we’ve always envisioned. Whether you're a dog professional striving to grow your career or a guardian dedicated to helping your dog thrive, let's connect and work together to make your vision a reality.

About Me
For over 20 years, my life has been dedicated to understanding and supporting dogs, helping them thrive in a world that is often overwhelming and confusing. As a professional dog trainer, I believe that every dog deserves to feel safe, confident, and secure in their family. I founded Dogma Training in Calgary, Alberta, with the vision of creating a place where dogs and their guardians could find success through compassion, knowledge, and positive, science-based methods.
My journey into the world of dog training began with my own experience of living with a reactive dog. Back when I started, there weren’t many options other than punishment, isolation, or even behavioural euthanasia. With limited resources and a deep desire to help, I worked tirelessly to help him overcome his fears, eventually developing a system of training that went far beyond simple behaviour management. It is this same belief in creating lasting, meaningful change that informs all the work we do at Dogma today.
What excites me most about dog training is the potential to empower both dogs and people. When dogs are successful in their homes and communities, they become confident, calm, and capable of exploring the world without fear. I want every dog to have the tools they need to navigate their environment and feel at ease, whether that’s meeting new people, going for a walk, or simply being comfortable in their own space.
At Dogma, we focus on helping dogs successfully integrate into their families and society. We specialize in working with dogs with complex behavioral challenges, using positive, reward-based methods to foster real, long-term results. Whether we are addressing aggression, anxiety, or general obedience, our goal is always to strengthen the bond between dog and guardian, helping families live harmoniously with their canine companions.
As an entrepreneur, I’ve had the privilege of growing Dogma Training into a successful, seven-figure business and creating Dogma Academy, where I mentor and train aspiring dog trainers. I am deeply committed to professionalizing the field of dog training and pushing the industry toward humane, regulated, and scientifically sound methods. I’m a certified behavior consultant (CBCC-KA), a certified professional dog trainer (CDPT-KSA), and a Fear-Free Certified Professional (FFCP), all of which reflect my commitment to continuous learning and staying at the forefront of the dog training industry.
I also strongly believe in giving back to the community. I have served on the Board of Directors for the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) for 5 years and was the first Canadian to serve as Chair. I am currently the Chair for the Canadian Association of Professional Dog Trainers. I am also a board member for the Licensing & Community Standards Appeals Board with the City of Calgary. My work as a mentor and my involvement with organizations like The Forum, which supports female entrepreneurs, is an integral part of my mission to empower others in the dog training field and beyond.
One of the aspects of my work that I cherish most is the opportunity to educate and inspire. Whether through one-on-one coaching, group workshops, or speaking engagements, I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping others succeed. At Dogma Academy, we’ve built a vibrant community where trainers learn, collaborate, and grow together. We believe in the power of community, and through Dogma, I strive to foster an environment where knowledge and support are shared freely, and every individual can reach their full potential.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with both dogs and people every day. My commitment to advancing the industry and promoting humane, evidence-based practices is what drives me, and I am always excited to connect with those who share the same vision of a world where dogs are understood, respected, and loved.
Thank you for visiting. I look forward to helping you and your dog build a stronger, more trusting relationship.
